March - May 2008

·         Students visited  local Gaelscoil to improve oral irish

·         20 students availed of a full day programme on Web technology in Tralee IT.

·         A very successful week of outdoor pursuits was enjoyed by all TY students. Activities included  abseiling, kayaking, hill-walking and camping were just some of the activities involved.  Many memories were made.

·         Many students availed of Safe Pass course this term

·         An FAI coaching course has been organised for April.  This will consist of 8 hours tuition after which students had to  demonstrate skills mastered in order to obtain the FETAC recognised certificate.

·         “AIB Build a Bank competition” happened on  March 11th. Well done to all those students involved

·         We congratulate our TY students on their successful presentation of “Time to Shine”.

·         An UDC organisesd event whereby 20 students are involved in designing and producing a garden in a designated area in Clonakilty will begin in April.

·         Students visited the District Court in the company of local solicitor.  They learnt about the workings of the justice system and were de-briefed after court sitting

·         Alliance- the Centre for Sexual Health spent a day with TY students

·         Trip to Calcutta- Having received €20,000 to help the streets of Calcutta, Kate Wilson, Luke Reed, Tanya Flynn and Paul Moore headed off to experience the devastating poverty the people there suffer.

·         10 students experienced college life by spending a week attending lectures at CIT.  Technology and Engineering comprised the basis of these specially organised events for TY students throughout Cork County.

·         4.1 & 4.2 visited  Triskel Arts Centre in Cork to view a film on Space Travel.

·         A very successful Enterprise Day was held in the Quality Hotel where 7 local entrepreneurs presented talks and gave valuable information to all wishing to set up their own business.

·         Commandant Peter Deegan of Reserve Defence Force gave a talk to all TY students interested in joining the force

·         New Baywatch Team!!- 18 students visited Inchydoney for a 2 hr surfing extravaganza.

·         All TY students participated in Forensic Science Programme
