Further Education College Clonakilty Are offering four PLC courses for 2009/2010 in : Business Studies/ Computing : Hairdressing Art, Carft & Design Childcare The courses are suitable for those : Wishing to return to the workforce : Wishing to learn new skills or update existing skills : Gap Year students : Wanting to meet new people
Business Studies/ Computing Runs daily fro 9.30 to 1.30 Mon – Fri. Previous experience of computers and/or business is not required. Upon successful completion students receive a FETAC level 5 and an ECDL Certificate. Hairdressing Consists of three days college and two days in a local salon each week. Certificates from FETAC, City and Guilds and Trades exams. Information booklets and application forms are available fro the college by phoning 023/33877. This is a one-year course which will enable students to gain employment in childcare or a related field. The points from this course can be used to gain entry into Higher Education

The courses are suitable for those: · Wishing to return to the workforce · Wishing to learn new skills or update existing skills
Modules · Caring For Children (0-6 years): This module is designed to equip the learner with the skills and knowledge to care for children aged 0-6 years. · Working in Childcare: Equips the student with personal skills and knowledge required to work in a professional manner with, parents and colleagues, in the home or in a childcare setting · Child Development: This module entails detailed consideration of a child’s development from 0-6 years and an outline of development from 0-10 years. · Early Childhood Education: Students investigate the purpose and potential of play activities for young children and introduces the concept of child age programs. · Communications: Students will concentrate on improving their communication skills. · Social Studies: This develops the students’ awareness of contemporary social issues and social services in childcare.
